Professor Hicks’s notes:

“Ethics and Current Ideological Movements,” Stephen R. C. Hicks, Professor of Philosophy, Rockford University

1. Our major debates over politics and science are primarily debates about ethics:

§  Red Pills and the Woke

§  Covid: Liberty and Authority, Science and Skepticism

§  Antifa and taking it to the streets

§  The two Black Lives Matter movements

§  The two Russia-Ukraine responses

2. Progress and Polarization: Are things getting better or worse?

§  Enlightenment successes

§  Is America the new Rome-in-decline case?

§  Is America the new Weimar/Rise-of-National-Socialism case?

3. Claim: It’s a three-way debate, not two way:

§  Moderns, Pre-Moderns, and Post-Moderns

  1. Hello!

I have a first edition copy of Kants uber pedagogik that I was wondering if you would like to purchase. I noticed you have done work with it in the past and was curious to see if you would be interested in it.
