Nietzschian – “Marriage, like everything else, is a disguised Will to Power. And though you will first serve me as an adoring wife, I see through your strategy. You will subtly shape me to serve your ends. As it is written, “Wherever I found a living thing, there found I Will-to-Power; and even in the will of the servant, found I the will to be master.” TSZ, XXXIV. I will marry you nonetheless. I will LIVE DANGEOUSLY! I will sacrifice myself the greater will, to “the unexhausted, procreating Life-Will”.

Descartesian – “How can I be certain that marriage is not an illusion placed by an evil demon? I think, therefore I am. I say ‘I do’ to the priest’s question whether I take this woman to be my wife, ‘therefore marriage is.'”

Heideggerian – “What does it mean for marriage to be? Are we being Authentic? Our marriage will inevitablty End-in-Time. As we are Dasein, who find ourselves thrown-into-the-world, we are thrown into Possibilities, including Being-towards-Marriage and Being-towards-Divorce. So, I guess so. Why not? Marriage in Ready-to-Hand.”
