Warby reviews Nietzsche and the Nazis

Australia’s Lorenzo Warby’s review of my Nietzsche and the Nazis.

Intriguing sideways connection to Heidegger and militarism: Warby also reviews Brian Daizen Victoria’s Zen at War, “a study of how Zen Buddhism became deeply complicit in Japanese militarism,” just as Heidegger’s mystically-charged writings became complicit in German militarism. Warby there points to this piece by Professor Jeremiah Reedy, who reports: “a German friend of Heidegger told me that one day when he visited Heidegger he found him reading one of [Daisetsu Teitaro] Suzuki’s books [on Zen Buddhism]: ‘If I understand this man correctly,’ Heidegger remarked, ‘this is what I have been trying to say in all my writings.’”

… is forthcoming in August and is now available for pre-order at Amazon. It will be published in both hardcover and Kindle formats. The image is a gray-scale version of the cover.

The book version is based on the script of the 2006 documentary and is now complete with footnotes, index, bibliography, appendices, and other documentation.

Nietzsche and the Nazis script online

As of today, I’ve begun posting sections from my Nietzsche and the Nazis. Since 2006, the documentary has been available from Amazon, Netflix, and a few other sources, and I’ve spent part of this past year turning the script into a book with full footnotes, bibliography, appendices, and an index.

My plan is to publish a section or two per week. To begin, here are the two introductory sections:
