Lecture in São Paulo, Brazil, November 24

I’ll be speaking at the Movimento Brasil Livre conference in São Paulo at 4 p.m.

My topic is “Postmodernism’s Influence on the Contemporary Left”: What is postmodernism, and why is it so prevalent? How has it evolved and devolved over the last generation — especially among left intellectual and activist movements?

Here’s some background on MBL:

“The Free Brazil Movement is an organization that stands for liberty and republican values. Created in 2014, the group of youngsters teamed up to fight the authoritarianism and corruption of Brazilian’s political elite. They led millions of people to the streets and turned the political setting upside down.
From São Paulo, they walked more than 620 km on foot to protocol the impeachment request of president Dilma Rousseff, and they camped in front of the Brazilian congress for several weeks to pressure the parliament.
One of FBM’s leaders, Kim Kataguiri, was named by Time magazine one of the most influential people of 2015.”
